OLIVER TEAM MOVES UP IN THE POINTS COMPETES IN BUSCH RACE - May 08, 2002
Scott Gaylord driving the Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary #00 finished 9th this weekend in the NASCAR Winston West Pontiac Wide Track Grand Prix 200 at California Speedway.
Gaylord also drove the #52 Ford in the NASCAR Busch race for Jimmy Means but fell out of the race early due to overheating. Gaylord has raced in a number of NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch races for Means.
In the Winston West practice and qualifying the Oliver team had their hands full with handling problems, a tire equalizing and a blown engine coming out of corner four at the end of practice. The crew
worked together well and was able to change motors in one hour and forty five minutes, they finished up and got the car through the tech inspection line just in time to make qualifying, we ended up making the race with a starting spot of 15th.
In the race the Oliver car ran as high as 6th but after a pit stop for right side tires the car's handling
went away and we did all we could to finish 9th.
The Oliver team has moved up to 7th the points championship
